Becoming Catholic / OCIA
Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)
The Order of Initiation of Christian Adults (O.C.I.A.), is the official process where adults and older youth are gradually introduced to the Catholic faith and way of life through a journey of conversion, formation, and discipleship.
“The initiation of catechumens is a gradual process that takes place within the community of the faithful. By joining them in reflecting on the value of the paschal mystery and by renewing their own conversion, the faithful provide an example that will help the catechumens to obey the Holy Spirit more generously.”
— RCIA, Introduction, no. 4
